This is a suggested framework, not a mandatory framework. Good decks can still skip some parts.

Understand the Pitch Deck Checklist tool

What is a pitch deck and why do investors read this document before meeting with you?

Pitch deck is a brief set of slides introducing a business, sent to investors before the first working session. This is often the only document the investor has on hand when deciding whether to take the time to meet with you. This checklist lists nine core elements that a fundraising presentation typically includes, helping you spot missing pieces before the application is sent out.

Dùng công cụ này khi nào

  • When preparing a set of slides to raise capital for the first time and it is not clear what content a presentation needs to present.
  • When you have a set of slides available and want to review them before sending them to investors or submitting documents to the Fund.
  • When receiving feedback that the profile is not convincing enough and need to determine which content is still thin.

How to use

Step 1 — Read the nine items in the list one by one. Step 2 — Compare with the existing set of slides, mark items that are clearly presented as completed. Step 3 — See the completion rate and list of missing parts in the right frame. Step 4 — Add blank content, then review the words head.

Each category corresponds to a question that investors will almost certainly ask. You should only mark complete when that content has specific evidence or data, not just a title slide. The category is a general frame of reference, very early stage businesses may not have enough data for every category and that is normal.

Ví dụ: A business has a slide titled Traction but only records a general statement of good growth, without the number of users, revenue or pilot contracts. In this case, you should leave the Traction category blank, the displayed results will prompt you to add data before submitting the application.

Thuật ngữ trong công cụ

Set of capital raising slidesPitch deck
The business presentation document sent to investors is usually about ten to fifteen pages, covering the problem, solution, market, team and capital raising request. The goal of this document is to win the next meeting, not to present all the details of the business.
Problem – SolutionProblem – Solution
The introduction highlights the real pain of a specific customer group and how the product addresses that pain. Investors evaluate the severity of the problem first, because a good solution to a small problem is often difficult to create a large-scale business.
Product-market fitProduct–market fit
The product's status has met the needs of a large enough customer group, shown by the fact that customers actively return to use and are willing to pay. This is what investors look for behind growth numbers.
Market evidenceTraction
Signs that the market has accepted the product: number of customers, revenue, return rate, signed pilot contract. This section needs to be presented with data and timelines, instead of qualitative comments.
Market access planGo-to-market
How businesses bring products to customers: sales channels, costs to add a new customer and expansion roadmap. This section answers the question of how the business will grow, not just why the product is good.
Proposal to call for capital and capital use planAsk & use of funds
The amount of capital the business requests to mobilise, along with the expected allocation for each item such as personnel, products, markets and milestones to be achieved with that capital. Investors rely on this section to evaluate whether the size of the capital call is reasonable or not.

Under 50% of categories

The profile is still in the drafting stage. You should complete the foundational sections of problem, solution, market and team before sending documents to investors.

From 50% to 80%

The framework is relatively complete. Priority should be given to adding quantitative sections such as market and financial evidence, as this is the content group that is most often asked about in detail.

Over 80% of categories

The document has enough content to start a discussion. The next step is to prepare a set of appraisal documents according to the Data Room category and practice the presentation for about ten minutes.
